Does anyone know how brush manufacturing companies obtain cruelty free animal hair?

i work for a makeup company and they claim that our makeup brushes are made with cruelty free animal hair. I was just wondering if anyone knows how what cruelty free means, in this case.

Quite a few years ago, I worked for a makeup company that claimed to use cruelty free animal hair in their makeup brushes too. I asked %26amp; was told that the hair is clipped or trimmed from domesticated animals, like goats.

However, this still posed a problem since some people felt it is still cruel to keep animals for the purpose of harvesting their hair or wool.

These days - there are excellent synthetics available so animal hair brushes aren't necessary %26amp; more companies are offering quality brushes made w/ synthetic fibers.
