First of all, treat the head lice. Lice are parasites, and she is probably infecting her classmates.

Secondly, she doesn't brush it because it's painful.. Someone (you parents) needs to enforce proper care - either comb it or cut it off. It sounds like nobody is willing to lay down the rules.

Use spray in hair detangaler, it helps a billion!

I was a nanny for a family once with a similar problem. The youngest daughter had lice constantly and refusted to take care of her hair (she was 7 at the time) mom just took her in one afternoon and had all of her hair cut off.

ok use shampoo really good (and conditioner) (and im a boy! lol whoo cares!) and my little bro dosn't want to comb his hair either because he likes it messy.

Okay one I am gonna tell you a great remedy that gets rid of lice for future reference. We have used it in my home before and it is AMAZING!

Ingredients

* 20 drops of tea tree oil (Lice HATE tea tree oil!!!)

* 2 oz of olive oil

* 10 drops each of: rosemary essential oil, lavender essential oil, and lemon essential oil

(at this point you can add a little shampoo to make it thicker....)

Preparation

* Combine the ingredients and apply to dry hair

* Cover with shower cap, wrap a towel around it, and leave on for 2 hours

* Rinse off using a vinegar and hot water (this will loosen the knits and and let them be rinsed away)

Go through the hair just to make sure you got it all....

Now about the brushing, just sit her down and explain to her why she has to brush her hair. Trust me I have an eleven year old here and she gives me the blank stare like she has no idea what is going on. Give consequences for not doing it and prizes for listening. Only at first tho. She will come to realize that brushing your hair is a good thing.

Oh and put a whole bunch of conditioner on it while it is wet after she takes a shower then comb it through.... then rinse... it will make it much easier and faster to brush afterwards......

if her hair is thick, she may want to use conditioner to make it easier to comb. A leave in conditioner might work as well, plus it could keep the snarls out of it. If it is in your budget, maybe a quick trip to the hair salon would be in order. Just for a trim. Help her braid her hair or play around with different hair styles. She may be over whelmed with the amount of up keep required for long hair and may just need help keeping it up. Take this as a chance for sister sister time..

When you are 11, its not up to you! Your mom needs to fix this problem asap!

My sister refuses to brush her hair!!?

What is her excuse? Is she doing it because she thinks it will keep her out of school? It will if they find out and she'll end up having it all shaved off or whacked to pieces by one of the parents (or siblings) in the middle of the night.

Band together as a family and tell her you won't be seen in public with her as long as she is a menace to society. And, don't let her into your room, rest her head on any pillows, or eat with the family. She needs a hard lesson and, this time of year, it could even include a lack of Christmas presents.

Or

Go the other way. Give her a day at a spa to be pampered but tell them what her problem is so they take the proper precautions - if they'll have her at all.

where's your mom in this?

Sit her down, and gently scare her into brushing her hair.

Try telling her that not brushing her hair will make her hair curly forever and ugly and head lice can give her a deadly disease. And maybe get your mom into going along with you guys so she will do it.

And also try brushing it ONLY when its wet with tons of conditioner and detangler.
