Someone told me when I was little that I shouldn't brush my hair when it is wet. I don't remember who told me or what their reason was.
My hair is naturally wavy/curly and it gets very tangled after I was it. So I always brush it after I wash it to try to keep it under control. I normally don't blow dry it.
Is there any reason why I shouldn't brush my hair when it is wet?
If you use an actual brush on your hair when it is wet, it should only be a brush with widely spaced plastic or wooden spines. Never use a "traditional" boar bristle or soft brush with lots of spines closely spaced. The reason is that these types of brushes pull at your wet hair, causing split ends and breakage. It is fine to use a wide tooth comb or pick on your hair when wet. Comb out your wet hair small sections at a time, combing in small, gently strokes. Begin coming your hair at the ends. For example, comb the last inch or so of your hair to get out the tangles, then go up another inch and comb gently all the way down, going up eventually to the roots. This method works the tangles out gently. Jerking the comb through large sections of hair at a time, or from the top of the head can lead to breakage and split ends. I apply a smoothing balm like Biosilk Silk Therapy or Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum before combing.

you should brush your hair when u condition it. this allows the cutticles to smoothen back down after the hair is shampooed then you should comb the hair after u rinse and towl dry to reduce tangles and damage.

you shouldn't brush your hair when it's still wet because it damages the hair cuticles. you may comb it though, using wide-toothed comb.. when you brush it, hair gets frizzy and breaks. it's best to finger-comb your hair and let it air dry.

Brush ur hair with widely spaced plastic or wooden spines. Gently comb out small sections of ur wet hair at a time. Begin combing ur hair at the ends. e.g., comb the last inch or so of your hair to get out the tangles, then go up another inch and comb gently all the way down, going up eventually to the roots. This method works the tangles out gently.

you should always brush it when it's wet- i have curly hair to %26amp; i find it much more easier to get out the snarls %26amp; tangles that way.

Instead of using a brush, use a comb. A brush may pull out fragile wet hair. I read that somewhere in a magazine dont remember.

if you have curly or wavy hair, you really shouldn't comb or brush it when it's wet, and not alot when it's dry either, if you want to keep it "under control" that will cause it to be really frizzy. your best bet is to condition it and leave it alone once you get out of the shower. plus, yeah, it causes breakage and split ends if you brush it when it's wet.
