My daughter is half black and half white. I have tried everything to make this experience better for her. I have bought detaingler. I give her a bath first. I use conditioner. I brush from the ends first. She still screams. How can I make this experience better for both of us.

How do I brush my daughter's mixed hair w/o making her cry so much? you just have to be gentle. Part it in sections, then work it out from section to section, or buy a big tooth comb, which should help it better. If not take her to a beautician and they should be able to help you out.
How do I brush my daughter's mixed hair w/o making her cry so much? hold her hair, and start from the bottom, brush down. once you've gotten that part detangled, move up a little bit, and brush that section until it's detangled... understand? that was kind of confusing but hopefully you got my point! :-)

How do I brush my daughter's mixed hair w/o making her cry so much? Mixed race hair is really tricky. You will need to buy conditioner designed for her hair. Then you will only use a pick to get some of the tangles out. Using a leave-in conditioner will also help. Heavy brushing, like you閳ユ獓 do with a Caucasian child is not the right thing for her, and will only break her hair. She will also not wash her hair as often. While picking out her hair, hold the hair by the root, so you are not pulling when brushing from the bottom up.
How do I brush my daughter's mixed hair w/o making her cry so much? OK. I DO NOT have a daughter obviously, I mean I'm only 12!!!!!! But i do have very good advice.
I have a friend who used to scream every time her mother tried to brush her hair, so first do everythin u can to make the hair smoother. E.G. Extra conditioner, detangler etc.
Using a brush, slowly n gently start brushing from the bottom parts. Then GO through the top. After her hair has become slightly smoother, spray some more detangler. try brushing again.
After her hair is VERY smooth, ior smooth enough to run ur fingers through w/o them gettin caught in a tangle, use a comb. Keep telling her to use conditioner on her hair, but not her scalp. Also DO NOT blow dry her hair, it ruins it n makes it feel coarser.
Good luck :]

How do I brush my daughter's mixed hair w/o making her cry so much? hold the base of her hair so that when you comb it, the roots of the hair don't get pulled. And use a wide tooth comb, and when it's already smooth, change to fine tooth.
How do I brush my daughter's mixed hair w/o making her cry so much? try using a leave in conditioner. That should make her hair esier to brush. When your brushing her hair part into 2-3 inch sections and start at the bottom of her hair. When you put in the conditioner make sure that you work it into every part of her hair.
How do I brush my daughter's mixed hair w/o making her cry so much? i have this hair (well mine's relaxed now but before i did) and it's easiest if you wash her hair first under a powerful shower; shampoo then put in a really good conditioner like mizani or just for me - that's specially for children so it's softer - then, using a wide-toothed afro hair comb, gently comb the conditioner through the hair. leave the condtioner in for an hour then wash it. you could try using curl-away, or another natural relaxer - DON'T whatever you do relax or chemically texturize her hair, please!!.
using a natural product's great because it doesn't harm her hair at all, is totally reversible because it goes curlier after a few weeks if you stop using the product, and you can completely control how straight her hair goes.

also, bear in mind that you don't need to completely comb out her hair, it's naturally very curly so will matt a little and this is okay, just don't let it get too bad! also ask your hairdresser for advice. oh, and also try straightening her hair with ceramic straighteners once in a while because that makes it so much easier to comb all the knots out (get it as untangled as you can first though, otherwise the heat can seal some tangles in) - it will NOT all break off, as i know from my and many other people's experience! it will only break if you use heat on her hair all the time, or if her hair's chemically damaged which you said it's not. just make sure you use a good conditioning treatment once a week when you wash her hair.
if nothing seems to work at all, try combing her hair with the wide-toothed comb in the shower as that hurt me less, because my hair was being constantly softened by the running water, which also loosened my curls.
How do I brush my daughter's mixed hair w/o making her cry so much? If you are trying to just brush it out straight, hold the hair at the base and use a wide toothed comb and a little spray in detangler. Dont use much of the detangler though, it will make her hair really poofy if you do. If her hair is a bit more caucasian styled, then you can switch to a brush with a little more detangler.
How do I brush my daughter's mixed hair w/o making her cry so much? I am also mixed black and white and have very tight curls. When you brush her hair, use a wide toothed comb. That won't pull so much hair out and it will help with the tangles. Also, start with the bottom of the hair and work up towards the roots when you comb her hair; this will help get the knots out and it won't hurt her head so much. There is also a Johnsons and Johnsons detangle spray that you can buy at the store--it works wonders! One more thing, when she goes to bed at night, put a single or double braids in her hair or something; this will help keep it from tangling while she is sleeping and it will be easier to comb in the morning! Good luck!
How do I brush my daughter's mixed hair w/o making her cry so much? If you are already being gentle and using the right products, maybe she is stuck in "cry when Mom does my hair" mode. Try distracting her by letting her do something else while you are working on it. She could put on some lip gloss, paint her nails, eat breakfast, draw or color.
How do I brush my daughter's mixed hair w/o making her cry so much? Ow!!!! Please just take her to a black beautician and have her show you what to do because nothing we say here will really explain well enough for you to know how to untangle her hair. Yes, you must part it in sections and comb through it gently. Both my parents were mixed and it still took my mom forever to comb through it when I was little. All that pulling you're doing could have made her what we call "tender-headed" and it is very painful. I highly recommend buying this shampoo called Cream of Nature, by Revlon, its conditioning and it softens and detangles very well for me. Please have the beautician show you what to do.
How do I brush my daughter's mixed hair w/o making her cry so much? Hi, I'm an african-american and I was going through the answers people posted and so many of them are wrong. Number one: whatever you do DO NOT FLAT IRON HER HAIR! I promise you if you do it will all break off! One answer was correct in using a wide toothcomb and not washing her hair often. African Americans have very delicate hair and washing it more than once a week can dry it out. Also, do not use a brush on her hair when it's wet, that also causes breakage. But do part it into sections and holding her hair in the middle (not holding her scalp) start at the bottom and comb your way up. But even if you do all this kids are kids and a few tears will fall. Make it fun by having her do her doll's hair while you do hers.
