Why is my hair falling out so much when I brush and shower?

Do you think it's the shampoo I'm using? I use Herbal Essences. I've tried so many but a lot of them didn't make my hair feel as slick and untangly as Herbal. What kind would you suggest, if the cause is my shampoo?

Or if you don't think it's my shampoo, what do you think it is?

(I'm only 22, by the way) LoL

Hair falls out for many reasons. Some of these things can be stress, bad diet, vitamin deficiency, or hormonal imbalances. If it continues or worsens after 3 months, I would go see a doctor and have your thyroid levels checked. Your thyroid gland (located in neck) has a lot to do with your hair. If you notice other changes with your hair, the way you feel (physically and emotionally), have a history of thyroid probs in your family, then it probably is your thyroid. Good luck.

They say that the average person looses a hundred hairs a day. When it's long you tend to notice it more then when it's short. Also, it could be a number of other things, stress lack of proper diet, or vitiamins. Take some extra vitamins. Working on the inside will help the outside.

Your hair may be thin and not strong enough when you brush it while it is wet.... Water slightly weakens the bonds on your hair... I do not think it is caused by your shampoo... but it could play a small part...especially if the shampoo contains alcohol (that weakens the hair as well)... Look on the ingredients and see if alcohol is part of the contents.... if it is, then I would stop using the product.....

If it is just a matter of your hair being thin or weak, I would suggest conditioning your hair at least once a week with a conditioner as well.... Also try to avoid using excess amounts of heat (ie flat iron...curling irons etc...)

A good Shampoo is something that I feel one should invest money in. Herbal Essescence isn't a bad choice of Shampoo, but I would reccommend using salon type products. Paul Mitchell is a great line to try for healthy, shiny, break free hair....

GOOD LUCK
