First, you probably have a waxy build up in your hair from using store bought products - pantene and dove are very good at building wax up in the hair, as are other more expensive store brands - do not use them. They will make your hair feel wonderful at first and then after a while, you get a waxy, tangled mess.

The cheaper store brands have the opposite effect, so if you are using something like suave in your hair, you might be stripping all the moisture out of your hair and that is why it is frizzy and tangles all the time.

In the first situation, for a cheap fix, wash your hair with a mixture of baking soda and dish soap, which will strip all the gunk out of your hair. Then start over.

In the end, you need a good professional product with moisture,as wavy hair is usually dryer. I know the price of professional products seems outragous!! After all, they can run about $22/liter. However, you should only be using a dime to a quarter size amount on your hair of the shampoo and the conditioner. These products are concentrated. A liter of shampoo should last a person with shoulder length hair 5-6 months. So you are really only spending about $3-4/month on each.

I thought buying professional products was a waste of money until one a long time ago, my stylist sold me a bottle of good shampoo for my hair (Bed Head Moisture Maniac)-my hair is wavy too, and a 12oz bottle lasted me about 2 months. At the time my hair was to the middle of my back. And it was less frizzy and much softer. I didnt need as much product once my hair had the moisture it needed.

I just bought some really cheap stuff at Wal Mart. It wasn't there Equate brand, but maybe a spin off of. I can't remember the name. It is in pink bottles. Everything was $1.46. They have straightening balm and frizz control serum. Works pretty good.

I used to use Olive or grapeseen oil in my hair at night and wash it out in the morning.

I use Sunsilk. It's pretty good. It combs out really easily!

If your hair is wavy or curly, throw away the brush! That's what is causing some of the frizz. Use your fingers or a pick only. Let your hair dry naturally or use a diffuser.

I suggest you check out the message board at www.naturallycurly.com . You will find lots of advice there, even if your hair is more wavy than curly.

Here is a trick..

get 3 products...

one..a non frizz spray..I use loreal..

then get a straightening hair gel, and a curly..I use L.A. Looks..it's cheap.

spray your hair down with the spray, and brush(when hair is wet of course) and then take a small amount(nickle to quarter size) of the straight and curly gel and mix it in your hands..smooth it all through your hair...and brush in a style you want..

if you want you can follow up with hair spray or mousse to hold it.

This has worked for me for years.

Look for St Ives 3 minute miracle. Use a hair straightener.

Try VO5 leave-in conditioner. Hand-comb it through your hair and wrap pieces of your hair around your finger and hold then let go it will be frizz free and curly and cute! You can get VO5 at most drugstores for $3-5!
