How do I get cocker spainel to let me brush her hair?
Before you brush her let her eat so she is happy then take her for a good long walk to wear some of her energy out. Try to keep her in a confined area and she should let you brush then. Just make sure she is worn out! Hope this helps

Get or make a grooming table, use a grooming arm to hold her in place (or two, one for the front and one for the back) and just do it.
The alternative is to teach her to lie on her side for brushing.
Either way, it's persistence and training.

I would use a gromming glove/mit. You slip it over your hand like a glove, and they are made of rubber, so when you brush her, the static it created makes your dogs hair stick to it. It works great for the shorter haired dogs that just dont want to stand up.

Good luck with this one. I would start out with a soft brush, that feels more like petting her. When she gets used to that, move to a more stiff brush that will actually do some good. Some dogs just don't like to be brushed, and fight all the time. We have to keep our Maltese practically shaved because she is a tomboy and won't let anyone brush her. She wants to play with the big dogs and refuses to be pretty or pampered. After 3 years of trying to keep her pretty and fighting with her to keep the knots and snarls out of her hair, she would just go get into a wrestling match with a big dog and be a slobbered-on again, so we gave up. We have a few dogs that love to be groomed. My australian shepherd loves to be brushed and brushed. Anyway, start easy, be firm and let her know you are the boss and she is going to be brushed. When she realizes she can't boss you around, she will sit still for it, but she may never like it. You may even want to get a grooming arm for your table that you can loop around her neck to hold her head up. It is like having an extra person to help hold her while you are brushing and grooming her. Good luck! Also, make sure her skin doesn't have any sores on it when you are brushing. If you brush too hard or don't have a good brush, you could scratch her skin, and then she would naturally want to run away everytime you tried to brush her. Spend a little extra and get a good quality grooming brush for her.

brush at the end of the day after she is tired and relaxed. Sit in the floor and invite her to sit in your lap. Start out be petting her and telling her how good/brave she is. Start brushing gently in small areas still talking and reassuring her. Work up to larger areas. Give her a special treat after you are done. Soon she will understand that this is special time with you not a struggle to brush.
Use a slicker brush, and a metal comb. Don't yank or pull at tangles but hold the end of the tangle close to the skin and work the knot out gently.
If you still need help, get her professionally groomed and ask the groomer when you pick her up to give you some tips on how to brush.
